5 Prospects Who Will Have to Help Their Team This Year.
5. Gustav Nyquist
Nyquist received numerous call ups from the AHL last season. With the rumblings of Detroit possibly trading Filppula for a defense men, Nyquist is going to have to step it up big time to keep Detroit a good offensive team. He racked up a goal and 6 assists in his 18 game stint with the Wings. He also racked up 58 points in 56 games in the AHL.
4. Jakob Silfverberg
Ottawa is really depending on their youngsters. Silfverberg is most likely being placed in the top six forward group for Ottawa. He recently played for the SEL, where he racked up 54 points in 49 games. The Senators lack secondary scoring so he will need to play a huge role in their offense.
3. Mikael Granlund
Granlund is one of the top prospects that hasn't played in the NHL yet. The Wild had the WORST goals for in the league! Even though they signed Suter and Parise, it is not going to help their secondary scoring. Granlund needs to step up big time and provide his skills that he brought while playing for SM-liiga.
2. Jonathan Huberdeau
Critiques are noting that Florida will miss the playoffs this upcoming season. And they're probably right. Florida is still in re-building mode, and they're depending on their young guns to step it up. That is when Huberdeau comes in. He will likely be in the top six forward group and contribute offensively. He may not rack up huge numbers because of his mediocre line mates, but he will be a huge factor for the secondary scoring, and the Panthers playoff hopes.
1.Nail Yakupov
Yakupov was selected 1st overall in the NHL entry draft this year. The Oilers now have a great group of young guns ready to push for a playoff spot. Yakupov will be given a chance on the top scoring line alongside Nugent-Hopkins and Hall. Yakupov could be the factor whether the Oilers make in to the playoffs or not. This comes with a lot of pressure, so we will see how good he does in his first NHL season.
